Sunny Hostin Urges 25th Amendment Against Trump, Citing GOP Loss of 2 Chambers

Sunny Hostin said on Tuesday that Trump’s Cabinet should consider invoking the 25th Amendment if Republicans lose both the House and Senate, arguing they may then seek to “take control” through Vice President JD Vance.
The proposal drew immediate skepticism on “The View,” with co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin saying a Cabinet move was unlikely because officials did not act after Jan. 6 in 2021.
The 25th Amendment allows a president’s Cabinet to remove him if he is unable to perform the job, and Hostin’s remarks revived a line of attack already used on the show against Trump.
Whoopi Goldberg floated the same amendment in September 2025 and Joy Behar did so again in December 2025, as ABC’s talk show also faces an FCC probe tied to equal-time rules and a June petition campaign.
