Because of that “theological download,” as he put it, Gibson said English would help audiences “digest it straight away.” He described the choice as tailoring the material to the audience and said using the vernacular was better suited to making the story believable and understandable. So the language shift was not presented as abandoning authenticity for convenience. Gibson framed it as a storytelling decision: the sequel’s spiritual, philosophical and narrative complexity made clarity more important than preserving the ancient-language approach of the 2004 film.
