Yankees Host Mets With 25th 9/11 Anniversary Tributes at Friday Game

Friday’s Yankees-Mets game in the Bronx will open with 6:30 p.m. ET ceremonies marking the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11, with 2001 Yankees alumni and current players honoring victims and first responders.
Pregame events include a wreath at the Monument Park 9/11 memorial, recognition of the NYPD, FDNY, Port Authority police, Tunnel to Towers and Tuesday’s Promise, plus first pitches from Brielle Saracini and Sean McGuire, both children of victims.
The Yankees began the commemoration earlier this week with visits to four FDNY firehouses, a blood drive, volunteer kit-packing and a mentoring program, while players and staff also toured the National September 11 Memorial and Museum.
MLB is extending the observance across all 15 games Friday with a moment of silence, “We Shall Never Forget” cap patches and “God Bless America,” underscoring how the attacks still shape New York baseball a generation later.
