Summary
Two days after being downed over Iran in April, the U.S. Air Force weapon systems officer known as Dude 44 Bravo is giving his first public account on CBS's 60 Minutes.
Bravo says he survived a violent ejection, suffered injuries and evaded Iranian forces alone in the mountains until rescuers reached him; the pilot from the two-man crew was recovered within hours.
The shootdown triggered one of the largest and most complex rescue operations in U.S. military history, underscoring the scale of the mission to extract him from enemy territory.
60 Minutes also interviewed Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and CENTCOM chief Adm. Brad Cooper, broadening the account of the U.S. war with Iran.
