Nov. 8, 2003, police arrested him in Wisconsin after a high-speed chase; investigators found the murder weapon in his rental SUV, Williams' blood on the gun and Brown's blood in his personal vehicle.
A 2007 jury convicted Humphreys of two counts of malice murder and other charges, but a Dec. 17, 2025 execution date was postponed while legal challenges and clemency proceedings played out.
Linda Brown, Lori Brown's mother and a real estate agent, said the case still underscores safety risks for agents who routinely meet strangers alone during National REALTOR Safety Month.
