Meta Brings Threads to Quest and Ray-Ban Display, Upgrades Smart Glasses Ahead of 2026 Connect

Threads has expanded from phones and browsers to Meta’s Quest headsets and Ray-Ban Display glasses, giving users a dedicated app on both devices after the service launched three years ago.
On Ray-Ban Display, the app supports feed scrolling with Meta’s Neural Band gesture, plus liking, sharing and video viewing; on Quest, Meta had already preinstalled the app in early August and force-downloaded it to many headsets.
Quest users criticized that rollout because downloads interrupted some VR sessions, while the glasses version fits more naturally alongside an existing Instagram app on the monocular HUD device.
Meta also refreshed its smart-glasses software with Muse Spark-powered Meta AI, Ultra HDR photos, burst-shot 'dynamic photo' capture, one-view Instagram Instants, WhatsApp group voice chat and a new Battery Saver Mode.
The updates extend Meta’s wearable ecosystem as Threads approaches X in active users, with bigger smart-glasses features and new hardware expected at Meta Connect 2026 later this month.
