Xbox is testing a startup selector for current-generation consoles, letting some Insider users swap the default boot for four options and mute the startup sound.
Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead members can choose the new “We are Xbox” intro, Xbox One, Xbox One X, or standard Series X|S animation as Microsoft tries to rebuild goodwill after layoffs, studio closures and leadership upheaval.
The same update bundle also adds local search for games and achievements, profile support for up to five badges, and background downloads while using Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Remote Play is being upgraded to 1440p with higher bitrates, while Voice Clarity aims to cut party and multiplayer background noise.
The feature push follows a broader Xbox reset under new boss Asha Sharma, with Microsoft also cutting Game Pass prices to sharpen its value against PlayStation Plus.
