Alexander Karmanov, San Jose's 7-foot-1 prospect, fought Kings forward Liam Lefebvre late in Saturday's 2026 Rookie Faceoff after a neutral-zone hit left defenseman Jakub Dvorak down with an upper-body injury.
The altercation erupted as Los Angeles players confronted Karmanov over the hit; Lefebvre, listed at 6-foot-3, dropped the gloves despite giving up a major size disadvantage.
Karmanov used his reach before Lefebvre went to the ice, then skated to the penalty box waving his arms to pump up the San Jose crowd in the Sharks' eventual 8-1 win.
The Moldova-born defenseman was taken 201st overall by San Jose in June and became the tallest player ever selected in the NHL Draft.
Afterward, Karmanov downplayed the clash, saying he asked Lefebvre if he wanted to fight and "yeah, we went."
