Prosecutors said police received multiple calls between 7:45 and 8:52 BST about a Lamborghini being driven dangerously on the M25, M3, A327 and Minley Road before it hit a metal gate and roadside infrastructure.
Witnesses told police the driver was inhaling from a white balloon, and officers found Sterling in the passenger seat with two nitrous oxide canisters on his lap; six canisters were recovered in total.
No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported, but Sterling has been disqualified from driving pending his next court appearance on November 25.
The former England winger, capped 82 times and currently without a club after a brief spell at Feyenoord, last played internationally at the 2022 World Cup.
