Thomas stressed the part favourable to him — that he had not been charged and says he has “done nothing wrong.” Police stressed the procedural reality — that the arrest occurred and the investigation is ongoing. Until police either end the case or prosecutors authorise charges, both facts can be true at once: he has not been charged, but he has not been cleared either.

Dan Thomas stepped down as Reform UK's Welsh leader after Gwent Police arrested a 45-year-old man on Sunday on suspicion of assault and controlling or coercive behaviour.
Thomas said he was released without charge and was standing down for personal reasons so the case would not distract from Reform's work in the Senedd.
Gwent Police said the man, from Aberbargoed in Caerphilly, was bailed pending further enquiries; Thomas also missed First Minister's Questions on Tuesday.
The resignation hits Reform Wales just months after Thomas was appointed leader in February and after the party surged from 2 to 34 Senedd members in May, becoming the largest opposition group.
The setback came the same day Reform MS Sarah Cooper-Lesadd defected to Plaid Cymru, adding to pressure on the party's Welsh leadership.
