Mahmoud Khalil Sues Columbia Over Years of Anti-Palestine Bias

Mahmoud Khalil said Monday he sued Columbia University, alleging it fostered hostility toward pro-Palestine students and retaliated after he and others reported sustained harassment.
The complaint says Columbia surveilled students like Khalil, ignored severe abuse targeting Arab, Muslim, immigrant and non-citizen students, and let false narratives about his role in campus protests persist.
Khalil also argues the university’s inaction directly contributed to his 2025 detention and attempted deportation by the Trump administration after his arrest at a university-owned apartment.
Columbia declined to discuss the pending case but said protecting students from discrimination and harassment is fundamental to the university.
The suit adds to Khalil’s broader legal fight: he was held 104 days in Louisiana before release, and in July he separately sued Trump officials and pro-Israel groups over his arrest and deportation effort.
