Tuesday’s 2026 “Angry Runs” debut named Commanders safety Tyler Owens the season’s first winner after his season-opening special-teams collision against Philadelphia went viral.
The 6-foot-2, 213-pound third-year safety blasted through two Eagles and bodyslammed the punt returner, a play NFL veterans said should be used as teaching tape for technique and hustle.
Kyle Brandt called it the greatest thing he had seen on “Angry Runs,” making Owens only the third defensive player in the segment’s history and the first special-teams player to win the scepter.
Owens later told “Good Morning Football” he was genuinely angry on the play, and he became just the second Washington player to win the award after Austin Ekeler in 2024.
