Newt Gingrich laid out a five-part roadmap for Republicans to expand their House and Senate strength in the 2026 midterms rather than rely on Democratic unpopularity alone.
The plan starts with what he calls “strategic clarity” — defining the election around voters’ real concerns — and presses Republicans to force Democrats to defend their positions on immigration, policing, spending, taxes and energy.
Gingrich also argues the party must campaign on affordability, jobs and national security, including a “serious strategy” on Iran, while explaining both recent economic gains and unfinished work.
A fourth plank urges Republicans to become the “American Party” by centering 70%, 80% and even 90% consensus issues such as border security, voter ID, lower taxes and government accountability.
The final piece focuses on healthcare, which he says makes up roughly one-fifth of the economy, with proposals including price transparency, rural care, direct primary care and cutting Medicare and Medicaid waste.
