Orlando took the top spot in WalletHub’s ranking of the 100 largest U.S. cities for coffee lovers, pushing last year’s leader Portland to No. 2; Miami ranked No. 3 and Seattle No. 5.
WalletHub said Orlando won on affordability and convenience—highly rated coffee shops, free Wi-Fi and a tourism-heavy economy where visitors and students want cheap places to work, charge devices and linger.
Three Florida cities made the top 10, with Tampa at No. 6, a result analyst Chip Lupo called surprising for warm-weather markets better known for iced coffee than traditional coffee culture.
The ranking weighed coffee prices, shops per capita, household spending, coffee makers, 4.5-star affordable cafés, Wi-Fi, manufacturers, doughnut shops and Google search interest.
The report also highlighted coffee’s cost: households in the most coffee-crazy cities can spend up to $327 a year, while New York fell to No. 44 amid higher prices and pressure on independent shops.
