Apple Unveils $1,999 iPhone Duo Foldable as iPhone 18 Pro Starts at $1,199

$1,999 iPhone Duo becomes Apple’s first foldable iPhone, joining the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max at $1,199 and $1,299 with the same A20 Pro chip.
The Duo’s 7.6-inch folding display and Apple Pencil support are its main differentiators, but Apple positions it below the Pro line with weaker cameras, Touch ID instead of Face ID, and fewer pro photo and video features.
Camera trade-offs are central: the Pro models keep a variable-aperture main camera, dedicated telephoto lens, LiDAR, ProRAW and ProRes, while the Duo tops out at 2x optical zoom and drops several advanced capture tools.
Battery and price also favor the traditional models — the Duo matches the smaller Pro’s 24-hour typical use, trails on inner-screen video playback, and costs $700 more than the Pro Max at the same storage tier.
Apple has opened pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max now, while Duo pre-orders start Oct. 16 ahead of an Oct. 23 release.
