A Murano glass “Sphere of Humanity” was presented to Pope Leo XIV on Sept. 2, carrying four handwritten passages from his May encyclical Magnifica Humanitas on dignity, conscience and AI.
Saint Peter for Humanity said the gift was meant to advance a push to define “what should stay human” as AI grows more powerful, echoing the pope’s warnings about dehumanization, opaque systems and weak accountability.
Next week in New York, 70 Nobel laureates, artists, technologists and philanthropists will begin drafting a “Codex Humanitatis” through 10 working groups covering work, oversight, information integrity and protections for children and families.
The nonprofit said the draft will go through global consultation before it seeks backing from governments, companies and institutions, including outreach at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
