UN Finds US War Crimes in Iran Strikes That Killed 120 Children

120 children were among 156 civilians killed when a US Tomahawk missile hit the Shajareh Tayyebeh primary school in Minab on Feb. 28, a strike the UN said amounted to a war crime.
Outdated targeting data and unverified intelligence about an Iranian commander at the site led to the attack, and investigators said the US acted recklessly toward the risk of hitting a clearly identifiable civilian building.
22 civilians were also killed or injured in a same-day strike on a sports complex and residential area in Lamerd, which the UN likewise deemed an indiscriminate war crime; US Central Command had denied striking the city that day.
The findings, due to the UN Human Rights Council, also accuse Iranian authorities of crimes against humanity in a protest crackdown that officials say killed 3,038 people and injured 25,000, with investigators suspecting the true toll was higher.
