SEC Takes No Action Against LSU as School Skips Expulsion Meeting Over 5th-Year Lawsuit

Emails obtained by WAFB show LSU System President Wade Rousse told Commissioner Greg Sankey the university would skip the session on counsel’s advice because LSU employees were individually named in the SEC’s federal suit.
Rousse instead urged Sankey and SEC presidents to end the federal litigation, saying that would be the quickest way to move past the dispute and refocus on the conference.
The fight centers on whether college athletes can claim a fifth year of eligibility; an appeals court this week upheld a state judge’s ruling allowing former players to pursue that extra season, while the SEC’s federal case remains pending.
