Vohnn said the image was taken at a screening of *Song Sung Blue* at the Palms in December 2025. She said friends began texting her after seeing her on CNN and called the mistake “weird” and “embarrassing,” adding that the network “didn’t do their research.” She also emphasized that she has never tried to present herself as the real Parton, only as a tribute performer. CNN later acknowledged the mistake and issued a brief apology, saying, “We regret the error and apologize to the Parton family.” The blunder drew outsized attention because Parton’s death prompted intense national coverage and tribute programming, making image accuracy especially important.
