Young Michigan Voters Back DSA Agenda, With 2 Endorsing Abolishing Senate

Young Democratic-leaning voters in Michigan told Fox News Digital they are warming to Democratic Socialists of America ideas ahead of the midterms, with at least two interviewees supporting abolishing the U.S. Senate.
Rising costs and frustration with what they called a complacent, establishment Democratic Party drove that appeal, as students and recent graduates said the DSA focuses more on ordinary people than corporate interests.
Michigan State sophomore Noel Otteson called the Senate “inherently undemocratic” and backed a more parliamentary system, while Detroit Green Party candidate Jahdante Smith said the chamber is exclusionary and ineffective.
Not all young left-leaning voters agreed: one Michigan State freshman said he liked much of the DSA platform but opposed eliminating the Senate, even as he faulted mainstream Democrats for lacking resolve.
The comments come as DSA-backed candidates notch primary wins in Michigan and New York, fueling both Republican attacks and Democratic concern about the socialist movement’s growing influence.
