Samsung Launches Galaxy S26 FE at KES 103,100 With Exynos 2500 and Nearly 3 Extra Battery Hours

For most buyers, the Galaxy S26 FE is not worth Samsung’s official premium price, and in some ways it is a downgrade despite being the newer phone. Samsung says the new 3nm processor improves CPU, gaming and AI performance, and testing suggests it sustains performance better under load. Battery endurance also appears meaningfully better, rising from about 11 hours 57 minutes on the S25 FE to 14 hours 49 minutes on the S26 FE, even though both phones keep the same 4,900mAh battery and 45W charging. But almost everything else is unchanged. The display is the same 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED panel, the rear cameras are effectively the same, durability is the same, and both still have 8GB of RAM. That matters because neither phone qualifies for Samsung’s Gemini Intelligence features, which require 12GB RAM. So buyers are not getting a major future-facing AI upgrade. The bigger problem is that Samsung removed useful hardware. The USB-C port drops from USB 3.2 to USB 2.0, cutting transfer speeds and removing wired DisplayPort output. That means wired Samsung DeX is gone, leaving only wireless DeX. For some users, that is a real regression. At about KES 81,000 in Kenya, the S26 FE can make sense if the price gap over an S25 FE near KES 69,000 is small enough to justify better battery life and a newer chip. At KES 103,100, it is hard to defend. Existing S25 FE owners should skip it.

Wireless DeX remains available on the new model, but it is generally less flexible and reliable than a wired setup for office work, presentations, or extended desktop use. So although the S26 FE brings a newer Exynos 2500 chip and better battery life, its downgraded USB port makes it less capable than last year’s model for users who rely on fast file transfers or wired desktop-style productivity.
