Summary
System Software 6.48 is Garmin’s first Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro update since the watches launched on Aug. 25, and it targets seven release-software bugs rather than adding features.
The most significant fix addresses potential battery drain on Fenix 9 Pro models with activated inReach plans; Garmin also corrected Messenger Calls over BLE, microphone failures during interrupted Voice Assistant sessions, and Silent Mode voice alerts.
Garmin Locate should no longer show confusing locations and times after the update, while watchface translation, layout, and volume step issues were also patched.
About 20% of Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro devices should already have received 6.48, and users can manually check via Settings, System, and Software Update.
