JJ Spaun Wins BMW PGA by 2 Shots After Presidents Cup Snub

J.J. Spaun closed with a 67 to win the BMW PGA Championship by two shots at Wentworth, beating a crowded group that included Rory McIlroy, Aaron Rai and Adam Scott.
The 36-year-old said being left off the U.S. Presidents Cup team "a couple of weeks ago" fueled him, after he finished 10th in points but was bypassed for a captain's pick.
Brandt Snedeker had leaned away from Spaun after a late-season dip and a Tour Championship withdrawal with a shoulder injury, making the victory an immediate challenge to that selection logic.
Jacob Bridgeman, one of Snedeker's picks, also strengthened his case Sunday by winning the Biltmore Championship for his second title of 2026 ahead of this week's Presidents Cup at Medinah.
Spaun's win is likely to intensify scrutiny of the U.S. roster if any of Snedeker's selections struggle, even with the Americans entering Medinah as heavy favorites over the International team.
