The storm is skirting Japan rather than making direct mainland landfall, but its path crosses the Izu Islands, where evacuation warnings are in place alongside flooding, landslide and high-wave alerts.
Dujuan is expected to track northeast and dissipate over the northwest Pacific later this week, after leaving parts of Japan facing rainfall close to a full September average in a single day.
