Summary
Jayden Williams, removed earlier this month after less than a year in office, said he expected censure rather than ouster and conceded his communications with an 18-year-old student were "somewhat" inappropriate.
WSB-TV reported Williams said the relationship was not sexual, while NBC News had previously reported he admitted exchanging nude photos with the student in a city-affiliated mentorship program.
Williams also acknowledged personal purchases on a city card but said the spending came from the mayor's reallocated $5,000 annual budget, was unintentional and was repaid immediately.
A police report found no criminal violation because the student was an adult under Georgia law, but the Stockbridge City Council still impeached him over the sexting and spending allegations.
The ouster cut short the tenure of Georgia's youngest Black mayor, who took office in January after becoming Stockbridge's youngest-ever mayor at 23.
