Ole Miss Confirms 2 Student Deaths as Kratom Found in Both Investigations

Lafayette County officials said two University of Mississippi students died Monday, and the university said campus police know of no additional student deaths.
Oxford police said the causes remain under investigation and there is no confirmed evidence the two deaths are connected, even though packaged Kratom from a retail store was found in both cases.
A 1:30 p.m. EMS call to Stewart Hall for a possible overdose appeared in dispatch records, but police said they have not confirmed kratom or any other substance contributed to either death.
The university said its police are working with local and state law enforcement and urged students who need help to seek support.
