Riley Moore Backs AI as Blue-Collar Co-Pilot, Opposes 18-Wheeler Automation

Riley Moore said AI should extend blue-collar careers, cut injuries and raise productivity rather than replace workers, framing it as a "force-multiplier" for manufacturing and trucking.
The West Virginia Republican, a former welder, warned the technology could also become the "nuclear bomb" for work if companies use it to eliminate jobs and erode the dignity of labor.
In trucking, Moore said he opposes self-driving 18-wheelers but supports AI tools that act as a co-pilot to reduce drowsy driving and make crash-prone Interstate 81 safer.
Moore has taken that message to the Teamsters and other labor groups while arguing U.S. AI leadership could strengthen wages and help counter China in an AI "arms race."
He also said communities should decide whether to host data centers, focusing on 3 issues — power supply, water use and local consent — as projects spread across his district.
