Dallas Love Field officers found a pocketknife concealed inside a toothpaste tube after an X-ray flagged a metal object in a carry-on bag during routine screening.
A second scan helped narrow the location, and instructor Wade Brown Jr. noticed tape and an unusual feel on the tube before opening it and finding the blade.
The married couple told TSA their son had suggested hiding the knife in the toiletry item to get it through security; they voluntarily surrendered it and were allowed to board.
