Chomilo has served in the role since January 2020, and the event is drawing scrutiny because Minnesota’s wider fraud scandal has centered on Medicaid-funded autism and housing programs.
Republicans are using the fundraiser to question Flanagan’s anti-fraud credibility ahead of her race against Michele Tafoya, with the NRSC saying fraudsters stole at least $9 billion from Minnesotans.
Fraud has become a top voter issue in the November election, and Flanagan said in August that the administration had created a new inspector general office, added attorney general staff and shut down a program abused by criminals.
