Hurricane Polo Targets Baja California Sur as Category 1 After Holding at Category 4

Summary
Northern Baja California Sur is forecast to take landfall from Hurricane Polo on Monday, Sept. 28, after the storm approaches the peninsula over the next two days.
Category 4 Polo could stay at Category 4 or 3 through Sunday before weakening to Category 1, with dangerous surf, rip currents and rogue waves hitting the Pacific coast from Cabo San Lucas to Guerrero Negro as early as Saturday.
Sunday through Tuesday, significant rainfall is expected across all of Baja California Sur, raising risks of flooding, mudslides, road closures and possible flight disruptions.
Late Monday into Tuesday, the storm is projected to push into southern Sonora and affect northern coastal Sinaloa, including the corridor from Ciudad Obregon and Guaymas to Hermosillo.
Highway 15, bridges and underpasses may be hit by flooding, with urban inundation and power outages possible as officials urge residents to monitor alerts and prepare evacuation plans.
