The party said the Sept. 22 article was not newsworthy on its own and framed it as part of broader political scrutiny of transgender and queer communities ahead of the midterm elections.

Last Ditch had already faced fierce backlash, including boycott calls, ableism accusations and violent online comments, after easing its mask rule for 1 night a week despite Greenfield reporting no COVID-19 cases for more than 2 months.
