Solana Opens Alpenglow Upgrade Window, Replacing TowerBFT With Votor on Sept. 28

Sept. 28 marks the start of Solana’s activation window for Alpenglow, a consensus upgrade that swaps out TowerBFT for the new Votor protocol.
Votor is designed to cut voting-transaction overhead across the network, making the upgrade a key technical event on this week’s crypto calendar.
The launch comes as bitcoin slips more than 2% in 24 hours and pulls back from $84,000, with traders pausing after a recent rally.
Macro data could shape sentiment next: U.S. jobless claims are due Oct. 1, followed by Sept. 2 nonfarm payrolls forecast at 84,000 after 162,000 previously.
That backdrop follows last week’s hawkish Fed rate hike to 4%, which has pushed digital-asset investors to watch economic signals more closely.
