ShareAScan’s QR-enabled shirts, hoodies and other merchandise were included in gift bags for nominees, presenters and performers at the 78th Emmy Awards, giving the startup high-profile exposure.
Each product carries a printed QR code that opens a web-based profile the owner can update over time—turning apparel into a changing portfolio, business card or personal message without batteries, Bluetooth or a dedicated app.
Prices start at $19, and the company says current buyers will not face future subscription fees; scans are anonymous, owners can restrict access, and they can delete their account data.
Security and privacy remain the main caveats: ShareAScan says codes first open content on its own platform and uploaded links are screened, but the FTC still warns QR codes can lead to phishing or fake websites.
The Emmy placement highlights a broader shift toward physical products gaining persistent digital layers, while leaving users to decide how much personal information they want their clothing to reveal.
