Sudan's Burhan Defies 90-Day Ceasefire Push After US Withholds UN Visa

Burhan publicly rejected U.S. pressure after Washington withheld his visa for the U.N. General Assembly, saying Sudan would not "bow" as the dispute deepened over a proposed 90-day humanitarian truce.
Sudan's foreign affairs adviser said Khartoum never rejected the U.S. plan and had submitted technical comments, with the main sticking point whether the RSF must withdraw from civilian areas rather than freeze current front lines.
Washington says both the Sudanese Armed Forces and RSF have failed to make serious truce commitments, intensified attacks on civilians and remain ineligible to lead Sudan; the U.N. also challenged the U.S. visa denial.
The clash underscores a wider war that began in April 2023, has displaced more than 11 million people and is increasingly shaped by outside backers competing for influence over Sudan and the Red Sea.
