Samsung Shuts SmartThings Tracker Service on Oct. 31, Ending In-App SmartTag Tracking

When SmartThings Tracker shuts down, third-party trackers that depended on the SmartThings Tracker network lose their SmartThings-based tracking support as well. The app’s unknown-tracker safety tool is going away too. From November 1, 2026, SmartThings on iOS will no longer offer the feature that scans for unknown nearby trackers, and broader reporting around Samsung’s notice says the nearby unknown-tracker search is being removed from SmartThings as part of the shutdown. What is ending is the tracker functionality inside SmartThings, not tracker support across Samsung’s ecosystem altogether. Galaxy SmartTag location tracking is being consolidated into Samsung’s separate Find app, where SmartTag tracking will continue. But Samsung has not said that the unknown-tracker detection tool will move there, and the available notices indicate that feature is simply being retired from SmartThings.
