Ted Cruz publicly labeled JD Vance “insecure” on Saturday while stressing that his own priority is helping Republicans hold both chambers of Congress in 2026.
Cruz pointed to campaign stops this cycle in Georgia, Iowa, Nebraska, South Carolina and Texas, with October trips planned to Alaska, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.
The Texas senator said no Republican has campaigned for more Senate, House and gubernatorial candidates over the past 10 years, citing a dozen past beneficiaries including Glenn Youngkin, Thom Tillis and Vance.
Vance, widely seen as the leading Republican contender for 2028, campaigned this week in Texas and Florida and is due to rally in Alaska on Monday; his office did not immediately respond.
The exchange keeps alive 2028 maneuvering inside the GOP even as Cruz says he is focused on the nearer test of protecting congressional majorities.
