Google Cuts Gemini Pro From AI Plus, Restricts Free Users to Flash-Lite on Oct. 9

Summary
Google told AI Plus subscribers they will lose Gemini Pro later in October, with account-specific emails to say when the change takes effect.
Oct. 9 marks the first cutoff for free users, who will lose Gemini Flash and be limited to Flash-Lite; AI Plus will keep Flash and Flash-Lite but not Pro.
AI Pro and AI Ultra are unchanged, preserving access to Flash-Lite, Flash and Pro; an earlier report said AI Pro also gains Deep Think and new effort settings in October.
The move tightens access on Google's two lowest Gemini tiers and could push some discounted AI Plus users to reconsider rivals if Pro was the main reason to subscribe.
