Summary
Six months after Lynette Hooker vanished in the Bahamas, U.S. investigators are still actively rebuilding what happened the night the 55-year-old Michigan woman disappeared.
The Coast Guard Investigative Service seized the couple’s sailboat in May, sent divers to search in June, and brought the dinghy to a forensic lab while other evidence went to the FBI lab in Quantico.
Investigators are trying to reconstruct a potential crime scene on the water after Hooker’s husband, Brian, told authorities she went overboard from the dinghy as they returned to their sailboat after drinks.
Brian Hooker was detained, questioned and released by Bahamian authorities in April, has not been charged, and has made no recent public statements.
The case remains publicly opaque, but Lynette Hooker’s mother said in July she believes her daughter made it back to the sailboat and that foul play was involved.
