Apple AirPods Pro 3 Drop to $179 on Amazon, Lowest Price Since June

Q: With only a small price gap, do potential ear irritation and a scratch-prone case make the cheaper AirPods 5 a safer bet?

No. At the current prices, the AirPods Pro 3 are still the better buy for most people, and the irritation and case concerns are not strong enough on their own to make the AirPods 5 the safer default. The key issue is value. With the Pro 3 at $179 and the wireless-charging AirPods 5 around $149, the gap is only about $30. For that, the Pro 3 add a sealed fit, much stronger noise cancellation, better workout stability, stronger bass, five ear-tip sizes, heart-rate sensing and longer overall capability for travel and fitness. Multiple reviews describe them as Apple’s best all-around earbuds when priced near $200. The cautions are real but limited. Some users report that the Pro 3’s foam-infused tips can irritate the ear canal or require occasional reinsertion. If you know you dislike silicone-tipped in-ear buds, have sensitive ears, or prefer an open design that doesn’t seal the ear, the AirPods 5 may indeed be the safer personal choice. Apple itself advises keeping AirPods clean and dry to reduce skin irritation. The scratch-prone glossy Pro 3 case is a minor durability issue, mostly cosmetic rather than functional. It should not outweigh the feature advantage unless appearance matters a great deal to you. So the smarter test is fit, not finish. If you want comfort with an open-ear feel and can live with weaker ANC and shorter battery life, AirPods 5 make sense. For most buyers, though, the discounted Pro 3 remain the stronger purchase.

$179 gets buyers Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 on Amazon for October Prime Day, a $70 cut from the $249 list price.
That marks the first time the noise-canceling earbuds have fallen below $190 since June Prime Day, reviving a discount that had been absent for months.
The model includes five ear tip sizes, live translation, improved fit, stronger bass and heart-rate sensors, making it the more feature-rich option in Apple’s lineup.
At just $30 above the $149.99 AirPods 5 with wireless charging, the Pro 3 currently offer the stronger value for buyers who want a sealed in-ear design.
