Bramblin Debuts in Pokémon GO on Oct. 13 as 6-Day Fall Marathon Starts

Q: With Bramblin arriving soon, will Pokémon GO require players to walk with this eerie tumbleweed to trigger its unique evolution?

No. Based on the event details released so far, Pokémon GO is not requiring a buddy-walking evolution mechanic for Bramblin. Niantic’s official event information says players can encounter Bramblin through GO Pass tasks, event Field Research, and regular Incense, and outside summaries tied to the event say players will be able to evolve it into Brambleghast by collecting Candy. There has been no announcement of an added requirement to set Bramblin as your buddy and walk a certain distance. That is notable because in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Bramblin evolves into Brambleghast after walking 1,000 steps in Let’s Go mode and then leveling up. Pokémon GO often adapts or simplifies main-series evolution methods rather than copying them exactly, especially for event debuts. So, unless Niantic adds a late clarification, the evidence points to a standard Candy-based evolution rather than a special walking trigger. Players should still watch for the in-game evolution button once Bramblin goes live during Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek from October 13 to October 19, because Pokémon GO sometimes reveals exact Candy costs and any special conditions only at launch.

Oct. 13 marks Bramblin’s Pokémon GO debut when the Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek event opens and runs through Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. local time.
Bramblin—a Grass/Ghost Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet—will be available through GO Pass tasks, event-themed Field Research and Incense, but not Daily Adventure Incense.
No Shiny Bramblin will be offered during the event, unlike several other season-featured Pokémon including Galarian Ponyta, Hoppip and Hisuian Growlithe.
The debut lands within Pokémon GO’s Twilight Trails season, which began Sept. 8 and continues until Dec. 1 with Paldea additions, new Mega Evolutions and Dynamax Max Battle content.
