Summary
HarperCollins said Jeffrey Archer died suddenly and peacefully at home on Monday, between writing sessions, at age 86.
300 million books sold over five decades made Archer one of Britain's bestselling novelists, with Kane and Abel and the Clifton Chronicles among his biggest hits.
His final novel, Adam and Eve, is due out this week; the publisher said he was still promoting it, including a Leicester Square Theatre event on Sunday and a school visit last week.
Archer's public life also spanned politics: the former Conservative MP and life peer was jailed in 2001 for perjury and perverting the course of justice, then returned to the House of Lords until retiring in 2024.
