Aeiramique Glass, Madison’s interim independent police monitor, said the city attorney’s 42-page employment review was not legitimate and argued only the Police Civilian Oversight Board could review her office.
The review faulted Glass’s office for moving slowly on a core duty—finding a full-time independent monitor—and cited emails in which she said she did not have to follow administrative memoranda except in good faith when she felt comfortable.
Common Council President Sabrina Madison said the review could help explain what is happening, while former Alder Isadore Knox said Glass appears to be misreading the office’s independence and contributing to dysfunction.
Any action now rests with the Madison Common Council, which has not signaled a decision; the dispute has simmered for months and intensified after the July officer-involved death of Corey Ruiz.
