Survey of 150 Leaders Ranks AI Misuse as Top Corporate Reputation Threat

Summary
More than 150 public affairs leaders ranked AI misuse as the biggest reputational threat to companies in the latest quarterly Reputation Risk Index released Tuesday.
The Global Risk Advisory Council said the risk is no longer just familiar but urgent, attaching a new advisory that told executives to take immediate action as rapid AI deployment erodes public trust.
Respondents said AI still promises efficiency, but also drives safety and data concerns, hacks, fraud, privacy strains, workforce disruption and lawsuits linking AI products to real-world harm.
Behind AI misuse, the survey ranked harm to children, misuse of sensitive personal information, unethical or illegal conduct for advantage, and poor strategic or operational decisions among the top five risks.
The findings mark a shift from July, when reputational fears tied to the U.S.-Israel war on Iran and supply-chain disruption led the index; the council said that conflict's sharpest brand impact has faded.
