Lamar Jackson's Ankle Injury Clouds Ravens' Week 6 Game as Browns Eye AFC North Opening

Q: Can former Browns quarterback Tyler Huntley orchestrate a stunning revenge upset if Baltimore's MVP remains sidelined?

Yes, but it would still qualify as an upset rather than an expected outcome. If Lamar Jackson remains out, Tyler Huntley gives Baltimore a credible emergency option because he knows the system, has 16 career starts, and has shown he can steady games in relief. He was efficient after replacing Jackson against Tennessee, completing 8 of 9 passes for 63 yards and adding 16 rushing yards. Coaches and teammates also have familiarity and trust in him. The larger body of evidence, though, shows how much Baltimore drops without Jackson. The Ravens scored 24 points in the first half with Jackson against the Titans, then produced no points and only 96 yards after halftime with Huntley. Since 2019, Baltimore is 79-32 with Jackson and just 6-11 without him, while its scoring falls from 28.4 points per game to 17.6. That is the clearest indicator of how much harder it becomes for the Ravens to win. For Cleveland, Jackson’s absence would materially improve the matchup, especially at home in a divisional game. The Browns would no longer have to defend the full Jackson run-pass stress that drives Baltimore’s offense. Even so, Huntley would not make Baltimore harmless. His mobility, experience, and the Ravens’ run game could keep the game close and create a path to a low-scoring, mistake-driven win. So Huntley could engineer a revenge-style upset against his former team, but only if Baltimore leans on defense, the ground game, and avoids asking him to replicate Jackson’s production.

Lamar Jackson left Baltimore's Week 4 game in a walking boot, and his ankle injury could still affect the Ravens' Week 6 matchup with Cleveland.
Jesse Minter said Jackson has a chance to play in Week 5, but the coach's update was vague and the quarterback has historically been cautious about return timelines.
Tyler Huntley would likely start if Jackson sits, a shift that could materially change the outlook for a Browns team viewing Baltimore as the toughest game in its next four.
Cleveland still must get through Week 5 against the Jets while managing its own injuries, including defensive tackle Mason Graham being out for a few weeks.
