Summary
Zapopan police arrested Iván Cazarín Molina, known as “The Tank,” and seized a vehicle, a firearm and drugs, Mexico’s security ministry said Tuesday.
U.S. Treasury sanctioned Molina in September 2024 over alleged fuel-theft operations for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, and Mexican authorities said the case involved information-sharing with the DEA.
Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch linked Molina to homicides, extortion, kidnapping, hydrocarbon theft, money laundering and drug trafficking, and accused him of involvement in the 2015 attack on an army helicopter in Jalisco.
FEMDO will now determine his legal status as Mexico and the U.S. intensify cartel pressure, days after Washington moved against 21 people and 25 entities tied to the Sinaloa cartel’s Los Mayos faction.
