Summary
Puyallup School District said it has received the emergency Supreme Court application from wrestler Kallie Keeler’s family and will respond only if the Court requests one.
The filing asks Justice Elena Kagan to bar Keeler from being matched against a male athlete this season, or require advance notice and a no-penalty forfeit option after an alleged assault at a Dec. 6, 2025 meet.
A federal judge denied a preliminary injunction on Aug. 23, and the Ninth Circuit refused relief pending appeal on Sept. 25, leaving the request at the Supreme Court as wrestling season nears.
OSPI and the WIAA both said they will keep enforcing Washington law allowing athletes to compete based on gender identity unless state law changes.
Keeler left her team in January and has said she may not return if she can again be paired against a male opponent without warning.
