Six tech leaders — including Elon Musk, Jensen Huang, Lisa Su, Satya Nadella, Michael Dell and Sergey Brin — are set to receive the nation’s highest science and technology honors at a White House summit on Thursday.
Trump will present the National Medal of Science to Musk, Brin, Huang and Su, while Dell and Nadella will receive the National Medal of Technology and Innovation at the Science: A New Golden Age Summit.
Artificial intelligence and 'super intelligence' are central to the event, which the White House says will focus on how private-sector investment can speed scientific breakthroughs and bolster U.S. leadership.
Musk’s award also underscores his renewed ties with Trump after their public split over Trump’s tax-and-spending bill; he has since reappeared at White House events and returned to an advisory role on Pentagon Project Meridian.
The ceremony will be the first time Trump has presented the two medals in either administration, adding personal resonance because his uncle John G. Trump received the National Medal of Science from Ronald Reagan.
