Summary
Brian Anthony Williams, 50, was arrested Tuesday at a San Diego restaurant after nearly 14 years as a fugitive in a 2012 Iowa kidnapping, assault and shooting case.
A media interview appears to have exposed him: authorities said someone recognized Williams from local news coverage of his work as chef "Troy Williams" and tipped off investigators.
U.S. Marshals said he had worked for more than eight years at Miss B's Coconut Club in Mission Beach under the false name, even appearing in local profiles as a popular head chef.
Williams remains in federal custody pending extradition to Iowa, where he faces charges including first-degree kidnapping, assault causing serious injury, conspiracy to commit a felony and first-degree arson.
The arrest came as FBI Director Kash Patel told the Senate Judiciary Committee that all 10 fugitives on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list have now been caught.
