Ashley Moody cast her Senate race against Democratic state Rep. Angie Nixon as a fight over Florida’s economic model, saying DSA-style policies would hand government more control and money at businesses’ expense.
Florida’s economy reached $1.8 trillion and grew 6.3% over the past year, Moody said, arguing low taxes and free-enterprise policies helped make the state the world’s 14th-largest economy.
Moody tied her warning to voter concerns over costs, citing inflation of 0.4% in the latest month and 3.4% from a year earlier as evidence that heavier government intervention raises prices.
She also pointed to New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s 2025 win and to Cuba’s state-run economy as cautionary examples, while Nixon’s campaign did not respond to requests for comment.
