Summary
Bill Maher said on his podcast that Donald Trump invited him to a second dinner next week after their first White House meeting, though it was unclear whether the follow-up had already happened.
Maher said Trump reached out "out of the blue" and had been "really nice," framing the renewed contact as proof that talking with political opponents is better than refusing access.
Ari Emanuel, appearing on the episode, said he had also spoken with Trump on Monday, and Maher used that to mock critics such as Larry David who attacked him for meeting the president.
The second dinner follows a first meeting brokered by Kid Rock, after which Maher said Trump was more gracious and self-aware in private than he expected despite their long public feud.
